Education is not what it used to be. And that's largely a great thing. When I was in school ( along, long...ok long time ago), getting an education was code for obtaining and retaining knowledge with the end goal of getting into a good college, earning a degree or two and embarking on a stable and set career.
Today, education offers alternatives, options and openings where windows, doors and perspectives were once closed. Education prepares as well as informs, inspires as well as challenges. Yet not all education is created equal, nor is it equally accessible to all.
If you are reading this post, considering joining the Little School Project, you want an education for your children that offers alternatives - choice, varied perspectives, competitive edge (in college or career pursuits), relevant and real-life content, transferable skills, caring and personal learning environment, the increased possibility to academically excel and succeed in the world.
Whether you are a modern homeschooler, an advocate of unschooling or a holistic-minded Tiger Mom (parent), you are in the right place.
