NAIS POCC 2017 Workshop
"I AM WHO I AM, RIGHT?" The Truth of Black Girl Magic
In 2017, I had the distinct honor to present an interactive workshop at the National Association of Independent School's People of Color Conference. As an international and independent school educator and administrator, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to share my observations and experiences working with Black Girls. I was particularly excited to initiate an authentic solution-oriented (and passionate) dialogue about the intersection of race, gender, social, economic, and cultural bias within even the most diverse and inclusive independent school environments.
While, most of the LSP readers are homeschoolers, many of parents with children enrolled in school and/or considering independent school options. Additionally, many subscribers are educators (teachers and administrators) who are seeking progressive pedagogical approaches and resources. I invite you all to take a peek into some of the conversation points of the workshop and continue the dialogue with family, friends and colleagues.
